EASTER

Spring is my favorite time of the year. The smell of fresh cut grass, the perfect temperature and the knowledge of school coming to an end and summer beginning. Easter this year happened to be on my birthday as well as General Conference. Grandma Luthi, Aunt Karen and our cousin Casidy came down to visit for the week. We enjoyed spending time together.

While Kelsee and I were at her swim meet, Aunt Karen helped the kids make sugar cookies. By the time I got home, they were ready to eat...NO MESS!
Maddy made a special heart cookie for me and put a special note on the plate so no one would eat it.

Abby and Maddy love playing soccer. We always enjoy getting out on Saturday morning to watch their games. They both played hard this season and had a lot of fun.
Maddy loves soccer!
She is really good at breaking away with the ball and getting it down the field.
Abby loves soccer and has been playing since first grade. She has a very powerful kick and a few smooth moves :)

HAPPY 9TH BIRTHDAY MADISON

Maddy was able to celebrate her birthday while we were visiting our cousins in Hawaii. I didn't take many pictures but she had a great day. We went to the beach, had a picnic, played in the sand and boogie boarded. Later, we enjoyed an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.

HAWAII 2010

For spring break this year we were able to go visit our cousins in Hawaii. We had such a great time. They have already blogged about our trip so here it is in a nut shell...thanks Joey! :)

A new adventure for all of us was night snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. They don't have it all the time, but we lucked out to be in town the week it was available. We rented a few flashlights and were set for a fun evening of swimming around with (who knows what) in the dark... I think the adults were more nervous wondering what might be hiding behind the coral than the kids. They seemed excited for a new adventure. We didn't see as many fish swimming around but were able to see different species of fish that are not usually out in the day. Jared was even able to see an eel. I thought for sure I would freeze to death I have to admit, but after getting in it was fairly comfortable. It was a new adventure!
We also took a drive up to North shore. We stopped in for some of Marissa's favorite pineapple ice cream at the Dole plantation. We still like the shaved ice with sweetened condensed milk but we never pass up on ice cream. All the beaches facing the North shore were closed due to high waves and strong currents. We still enjoyed the view and were able to see the turtles sun bathing and swimming in the waves on the "turtle beach." We made a stop at the Hukilau Beach park in Laie. It was a bit windy, and the waves weren't as consistent as we were hoping for so the stay was shortened, but the day wasn't lost as some made a trip over to Kalama beach in Kailu when we returned.

We enjoyed spending time together going to baseball scrimmages, soccer games, early morning walks and lots of visiting. The three oldest girls slept outside in a 3 man tent. They were nice and cozy. Thank goodness the hard rain held off till after we left. The week flew by too fast. We are hoping to go and visit again before they move.

Happy 5TH BIRTHDAY BAILEY!

Bailey is getting so big. I can't believe my baby is 5 years old. She will be starting Kindergarten this fall. She is ALL girl. She saw a picture of this cake in a magazine and wanted it for her birthday cake. The main request was for the dog to be pink. I think that is why she liked it in the first place. She is growing up too fast. The other day she told me she didn't like princesses anymore. For the last few years she pretty much lived for princesses. She said they were for babies. Yesterday, before she went to school, I caught her applying eye shadow. I told her it was just for play and dress up but she said she needed to look pretty.

excited for the present opening to begin....
checking out the goods....
Bailey chose to go to the "peanut place" for dinner.....Texas Roadhouse. She usually isn't too shy about things but when they had her get on the saddle, she was a little embarrassed and didn't want us to sing to her.
Just another day at the Speakman house. The kids always enjoy taking a goofy picture....
Abby, Bailey, Kelsee and Madison celebrating!
Happy Birthday Bailey....we love you!

High School Swim 2009/2010

Kelsee is a junior this year and is addicted to swimming. She participated on the high school team this season and had a lot of fun. She was able to swim at the State Swim High School Championships at BYU in February. The two events she swam were the 200m and the 500m. She did a great job. Her stamina amazes me. A few pictures from the season.....

2010.....Here I Come!

I have been a slacker at updating my blog, which is obviously why I am months behind. It's the beginning of May and I have just finished 2009. I will celebrate this accomplishment and now start the new year (which is almost half way over...ha!)

Since I am so behind in my scrapbooking, I decided to start a blog for the simple purpose of journaling. This way, when I finally get around to compiling the kids scrapbooks, I will have a little information to go along with all the photos I have taken over the years. There are many types of blogs. Mine is neither creative or insightful but merely a way for me to keep some type of order in my chaos.

I haven't tried to print out my blog. Have any of you done this yet? If so, could you give me a few pointers on how I do this? I would appreciate any help I can get.

Let the 2010 blogging BEGIN.....!

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2009

Christmas morning comes way too soon after staying up late the night before. Jared and I usually tell the kids they have to wait until at least 8 a.m. before they wake us up and believe it or not they usually accommodate our request (they do come in 2-3 times to make sure we haven't changed our minds).
Look what Santa brought for us! We must have be nice and not naughty.
MERRY CHRISTMAS! Wishing you all the best this holiday season.
We have been so blessed with loving family and friends. Thank you for being part of lives and helping us as we "Enjoy the Journey".
